Salicylic Acid
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) derived from willow bark and is known for its ability to penetrate deep into pores. Unlike water-soluble acids, salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which allows it to break down excess sebum and remove debris trapped inside pores. This makes it especially effective for acne prone and oily skin. It also has mild anti-inflammatory properties that help calm active breakouts.

In skincare, salicylic acid is widely used in cleansers, serums, and spot treatments to clear pores, reduce acne, and prevent future breakouts. Regular use helps exfoliate dead skin cells from within the pore lining, improving skin texture and clarity. Because it actively exfoliates, salicylic acid should be introduced gradually and always paired with moisturiser and sunscreen. It works best when used consistently and correctly.
